BACKGROUND:
Multi-talented, Brett has worked as a commercial river guide for many years, rafting more than15, 000 miles. He holds a river guide license, is an Emergency Medical Technician and has gone through extensive river rescue education.

In the 1990s, he developed and implemented a natural and cultural history program that showed mountain bike guides how to educate their clients. He still works part-time as a mountain biking guide and pioneered several tours.

On the production side, he has worked as a technical adviser for film and photo projects and has appeared in front of the camera as a model and actor.

Brett has served as a dirt bike trainer, raft guide, rappelling and climbing guide, and EMT for the Marlboro Adventure Team since 1993.

Carsten Podehl

BACKGROUND:
Carsten's family moved from Germany to Ottawa, Canada shortly after he was born. In 1989, he picked up and moved west again to British Columbia, where he currently resides. A rafting guide since 1977, Carsten has also been a swiftwater rescue technician and river safety coordinator, and has operated a professional rafting tour company in Vancouver, B.C. He has run more than 30 wild rivers in Canada, including the Chilliwack, Thompson, Chilko, Fraser, Rouge, Capilano, and Lillooet.

Carsten is also an excellent skier, working winters in the B.C. Rockies as a ski patroller and a backcountry snowmobile guide. His snowmobile experience, along with his hobbies of Enduro and 4x4 driving, lend themselves perfectly to his work as an ATV rider and guide. Since the mid-90s, he has developed special skills in outdoor recreation, and worked as a stunt double, performer and coordinator for films, TV and still photo shots.

He has been a member of the Marlboro Adventure Team since 1995 as an "all-arounder": rafting guide, outdoor instructor, ATV guide, safety instructor and more.

Christian Holler

BACKGROUND:
Christian Holler studied Economics and Marketing at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For the past eight years, he has combined his education with his love of adventure, specializing in outdoor production and logistics.

Christian has helped coordinate two Alaska University expeditions, taking part in a marine life recovery project following the Exxon Valdez oil spill. In addition, he organized the Second Land Rover Driving Experience and was in charge of media logistics for the Discovery Channel Eco-Challenges in Argentina and Borneo. Christian has also worked as producer for Patagonia Films Inc. and Media Sur producing commercials and documentaries in Patagonia. In his “spare time”, Christian helped found the Melipal Volunteer Fire department in Bariloche. Since 1989, he has worked with the department to develop their skills in mountain rescue, first aid and emergency medical tools.

For the 2001 Marlboro Training Camp in Argentina, Christian was an outdoor and 4x4 Jeep Instructor as well as a member of the international jury of experts.

Dave Medara

BACKGROUND:
Dave graduated from the University of Maine in 1985 and worked for two years as a computer programmer. Unable to resist the lure of skiing and climbing, he moved to Utah in 1987 and has been working in the ski and mountaineering industry since then.

His climbing exploits have taken him to Mexico and Alaska, as well as all over the western United States and Canada in search of rock, ice, alpine and sport climbing. He has established alpine routes on the big walls of the Alaska Range and Canada´s Bugaboo Spires, and has climbed extensively on the big walls of Yosemite and Zion national parks, summiting on El Capitan four times. Dave climbs routes at a difficulty level of 5.13, and continues to push his personal limits when he is not guiding or teaching climbing techniques to others.

2001 marks his sixth year working as a guide and outdoor expert with the Marlboro Adventure Team.
